Symptoms are our body’s way of telling us something is wrong.  Pain and disease create an imbalance:  somewhere there is an obstruction that is inhibiting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.  Acupuncture is an ancient medicinal technique based on anatomy that uses hair-thin needles to improve the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients through specific networks of channels to nourish every cell of the body, thereby restoring balance and health.
During treatment, blood vessels dilate and increase circulation to specific areas of the body, relieving pain, improving organ function, and slowing the effects of aging.  The nervous system is also stimulated: nociceptors, sensory nerves, and proprioceptor fibers that travel from the skin to the spine and into the brain are all activated, improving nerve signal and inducing the release of endorphins to relieve pain.
Acupuncture works by treating 5 main factors that influence your health:
  • the flow of oxygen / function of your body
  • the flow of blood in your body
  • the health of your blood vessels
  • the health of your organs
  • the health of your nervous system

In short, acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
